Acasio I. Salazar ascended into heaven as he peacefully rested on the morning of July 16, 2018. He was born on July 8, 1932 to Francisco and Fortunata Salazar in La Puente, NM. He was one of two children and was preceded in death by his sister Savanita Salazar Trujillo.
Acasio moved to Cuba and began a career with the State Highway Department in 1956. He met and began a family with his now widow, Helen Salazar. The two recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Together they raised five children. He had a love for his job, the horse races, and the casino game blackjack. If he wasn’t working he could be found at the casino with his loving wife and family.
Acasio is now reunited with three of his sons; Robert Salazar, Frank Salazar, & Gerald Salazar all who preceded him in death. He is survived by his only daughter, Yvette Salazar Cordova; his youngest son, Thomas Salazar; and numerous grandchildren; and great- grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Cuba, NM, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at the Cuba Catholic Cemetery.
