Ambrose V. Chavez, age 97, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 11, 2019, in Houston, TX. He was a resident of Albuquerque, NM, and was currently living in Houston, TX. Ambrose graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1939, then went on to join the United States Army serving his country during World War II; and was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired after 31 years of service with the United States Postal service. Ambrose enjoyed fishing and RVing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Veneranda Chavez; his wife Mary Louise; son, Peter; siblings, Susie Sena, Victor Chavez, Tony Chavez, and Mary Lucero.
Ambrose is survived by his loving children, Fred Chavez, Therese Villareal and husband Al, Helene Cash and husband Lee, Cecilia Zoch and husband Henry, Rebecca Munson and husband David; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his sister, Virginia Chavez; and other numerous loving relatives and friends. Ambrose will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.
A Rosary to be recited Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW in Albuquerque, where the Service of Christian Burial will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
