Benito Ortiz

Benito Ortiz, age 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, andbrother, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 10, 2016.  He was born at his family ranch in Trementina, NM and was a resident of Bernalillo, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and May Ortiz; and brother-in-law, Leonard Lujan

Benito is survived by wife of 48 years, Rafelita Ortiz; his children, Larry Ortiz and girlfriend, Cherrye of Dalhart, TX, Glenda Witt and husband Troy of Ponderosa, NM; his grandchildren, Marla, Justin, Kolby, Cody, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Kaiya, Steven, and Kyson.  Also surviving are his siblings, Celina Lujan, Imelda Rodriguez, Ernest Ortiz and wife Eva, Lucy Romero, Daisy Huesman, Carlos Ortiz and girlfriend Missie; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Benito will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 Camino de Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  Pallbearers will be Simon Sifuentes, Lloyd Lujan, Leroye Ortiz, Kenneth Witt, Steven J. Gutierrez, Rick Poolaw, Joe Dan Ortiz, and Jeff Mora.  Honorary Bearers will be Kathy Ortiz, Karla Praither, Marla Ortiz, Cody Benavidez, Steven G. Gutierrez, Justin Ortiz, Kolby Ortiz, and Ryan Ortiz.
