Bessie Jarmaillo, age 89, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and sister was called to her final resting place by our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, July 17, 2020; two weeks away from turning 90. Bessie was born in Jemez Springs, NM on July 31, 1930; she was the first of 13 children. Bessie and Melecio were married on August 29, 1949 they had six children and lived their entire lives in Canon. When the children got older, she worked at the Senior Center in Canon, and was a bus driver for Jemez Valley Schools for over 30 years; she also worked at Walmart as a door greeter for two years.
Bessie loved people, but above all she loved God. She had such a big heart for strangers and the homeless; her generosity and hospitality had no bounds, she always wanted to help those who had less. She loved her family and her grandchildren were her life. Bessie enjoyed traveling, and had been to Israel four times. In the Jaramillo household, Bessie was known for her delicious red chili, it was like no other. She could be a bit feisty at times, and was never afraid to speak her mind. Bessie enjoyed politics and loved the drama that came with the subject.
Heaven is going to be a grander place with her there. She always told her children, "The Lord is preparing a mansion for us." Bessie was ready.
Bessie suffered from Alzheimer's disease, a very painful and sad disorder. The battle is over now, no more suffering, no more pain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melecio Jaramillo; sons, Ramon and David Jaramillo; and grandsons, Lance and Andrew Jaramillo. Bessie is survived by her wonderful daughters, Rosemary Chavez (Frank), Ida Merhege (John), Lisa Russo (Joe), and Paula Jaramillo (Joseph); 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are her siblings whom she loved dearly, Ralph Garcia, Johnny Garcia, Felix Armenta, Alex Armenta, Johnny Armenta, Dorothy Castillo, Nancy Olea, Linda Dougan, and Colleen Reynolds; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Bessie will be missed tremendously by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, Funeral Services will be only for the immediate family. A Memorial Service for Bessie will be conducted at a later date.
