Deluvina Garcia

Deluvina Maria Garcia, 92, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at her daughter Roberta’s (Clarence) home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Ponderosa, NM on March 1, 1927, to the late Patrocinia and Jose Angel Flores.

Deluvina married Juan Garcia on December 26, 1944; last year they celebrated 75 years of marriage.  As a homemaker, dedicated wife and mother, Deluvina raised her children in her childhood home where she mastered the art cooking on her wood stove, washing laundry in her ringer washer and roasting green Chile with fresh tortillas each fall. Deluvina was a woman of deep faith and believed in the power of prayer, this prayer kept her large family safe and always brought them home. She will be missed for delicious red chile, her homemade apricot jam, and her deep love for her family.

Deluvina is survived by her husband of 75 years, Juan Garcia; her children, Velma Chavez, Tino Garcia and Carmen,Virginia Montano and husband Andy, Cecilia Martinez and husband Pete, Joe Garcia and wife Rosemary, Roberta Gutierrez and husband Clarence, Albert Garcia and wife Patricia; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Celsa Morales, Angie Harrison and husband Albert; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.  Deluvina will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Thomas Jaramillo; grandsons, Thomas Jaramillo Jr., Joseph Garcia; sisters, Ella Casaus and Dora Noriega.

A Eulogy will be shared Friday, August 2, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th St., NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
