Denese Irene Littlebird "Niec" was born on May 8, 1984 in Miles City, Montana. Her Cheyenne name was Cedar Road Woman. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. She had a big personality and a bigger heart. Her childhood was spent between Montana and New Mexico. She attended schools in Albuquerque, NM and Poplar, Montana. She earned her EMT license at CNM and Home Health Care Provider license in Albuquerque. Denese worked at the casinos in Oklahoma prior to working with Comfort Keepers in Albuquerque. She had a strong passion for elderly care and was happy to have helped several families with Hospice care for their parent(s). She was studying Phlebotomy in hopes of working in the medical setting.
Denese participated in Native American Church meetings and ceremonies with her family. She respected the Cheyenne traditional ways. She was a Fancy Dancer in her youth; she enjoyed attending the Gathering of Nations and pow-wows in and throughout Montana and Oklahoma. She created beautiful beadwork and was a talented jewelry maker. Her favorite designs involved dragonflies, butterflies, and the color green.
Denese enjoyed horseback riding, hiking and traveling. She taught her children how to jump waves at the ocean and swim in Elephant Butte Lake. She took them out on the jet skis and introduced them to tubing and fishing. Her pasta salad was a hit at the yearly fish fry in June. She was known for her love of hot wings.
She adored her children and was a devoted friend. She is survived by her two beautiful children, JamesLee and MaeleniaAnn. In addition to her children, survivors include: her mother, Patricia; her two brothers, Lee and Al; her father, Steve. Other family members are Mike & Kim Foskey, Shannon & Bert Hagen, Jason Foskey, Corinne & Greg Brown, her Aunt Donna Foskey for whom she was named after (Denese), Harry Littlebird, Jr, Theresa Littlebird, Ruth Littlebird, Rose Littlebird, Fernando Littlebird, Serena Littlebird, Barbara Littlewallow, Richard Littlebird, Theresa Hunt Littlebird, Wilma Blackbear, Stella Blackbear, Eugene Blackbear, III, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We apologize if we left anyone out as our extended family is large.
Sadly several family members will welcome her home. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Will & Gerry Foskey and Harry Sr. & Anna Joyce Littlebird.
Denese passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitations will be Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services ~ Alameda Mortuary, where the Celebration of Denese's Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.
