Don Lovato

Don Lovato, age 96, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 15, 2019, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cuba, NM, formerly lived and grew up in LaJara, NM most of his single life; and was a long time resident of Bernalillo, NM. Don was proud to serve our country in the United States Coast Guard.  He served as Treasurer for the town of Bernalillo; worked as an officer for the Bernalillo Police Dept., and served as Probate Judge for Sandoval County. Some of his hobbies and interests were playing pool, listening to music, collecting rocks, the outdoors, making new friends, young and old, and especially sharing his stories of his hometown of LaJara with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donaciano and Doloritas Lovato; his wife Celina M. Lovato; son, Don S. Lovato, Jr., grandson, Ryan Miller; siblings, Amadeo, Patricio, Eliseo, Francisco and Reynaldo Lovato; and niece, Olivia DeHerrera who was raised with him and considered her as a sister.   Don is survived by his loving children, Dolores Archibeque and husband John, Ceci Roseberry and husband Buster, Margaret Chavez,  Elizabeth Sedillo and husband Michael; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  Don will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Don's 97th birthday on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. also at the Church.  Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Honored to serve as Casket Bearers are John Archibeque, Don Roseberry, Robert Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Marcus Ward, and Brian Hartely.  Honorary Bearers will be Cody Longley and Michael Ward.
