Freddie “Fred” Casias, 71 yrs, born December 31st, 1950 in Bernalillo, New Mexico, passed away on December 1st, 2022 in his home in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Masedonio and Carmen Casias, and 5 siblings Virgil F. Casias, Gilbert Casias, Donnie Casias, Lila Lewis, and Tina Gonzales.
Fred is survived by his 4 children; Ruth J. Casias & partner Jose Romero, Marylou Valeria Marquez & spouse Gonzalo, Fred Eric Casias & spouse Jennifer, and Martin P. Casias & spouse Michelle; and 7 Grandchildren; Jeff Marquez, Jenifer Roman, Angelina Carrillo, Eric Casias Jr., Alejandra Alvarez, Zack Casias, and Kodi Casias; and 10 great grandchildren.
Fred was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew and Friend who touched, inspired, and gave joy, love, & laughter to the lives of so many. He will be dearly missed.
Captain Fred Casias served his community faithfully giving 30 years of service to the Albuquerque Fire Dept (AFD). He joined the 28th Cadet Class in March of 1976 and shifted careers in December 2006. He continued his duty as an instructor for Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and the state of New Mexico Firefighter Training Academy (NMFTA), as well as serving on the Albuquerque Fire Department Retirees Association (AFDRA) Executive Board as Secretary, culminating in over 50 yrs of civil service.
