Henry Sanchez

Henry J. Sanchez, age 83, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother,  passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 24, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Alameda, NM.  Henry served his country in the United States Army.  Henry was an active parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, and served the Church in many ways, including helping construct the new altar.  Henry was loved by many, and will fondly be remembered in the community as a kind, loving man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jose and Telesfora Sanchez; sons, Charles and Gerald Sanchez; and siblings, Ralph Sanchez and Velma Engel.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Sanchez; his children, Consuelo Rodriguez and husband Fernando Roa, Monica Zillman and husband Jeff, Geraldine Esquibel and husband Leroy, and Henry Sanchez; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his siblings, Lydia Gurule, Joyce Caruthers, Paul Sanchez and Roger Sanchez; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Henry will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, Albuquerque, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m.  Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 30, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church.  Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Leroy Esquibel, Jeff Zillman, Fernando Roa, Art Sandoval, Mark Sanchez, Orlando Saiz, Michael Rodriguez, and Jeffrey Sanchez.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in Henry's honor may be made to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
