Jettie J Miles, 75 of Roswell passed away, November 17, 2019 after a hard fought battle with breast cancer, at her daughter’s home in Albuquerque with her puppy on her lap.
Jettie was born to the late, Elsie La Driere Anderson and Tillman Anderson in El Paso, TX on March 13, 1944. Jettie graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1961 and received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from ENMU in the 1990’s. In 1986, Jettie moved to Roswell where she met and married Roy V. Miles, who was currently residing in Midland, TX, with his daughter. Sadly, Roy passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019.
Jettie is also survived by her daughter Melanie Schwaner and husband Mark of Albuquerque, her son (Douglas) Kevin Zimmerman and his wife Linda of Las Cruces, her daughter Autumn Claxton and husband William of Midland and her daughter Tori Rich and husband Jim of Midland. Jettie is also survived by her grandsons, Mitchell Schwaner, Austin Baca Ray, Roy Hinds and Justin Kennard; and her granddaughter, Madison Schwaner. Jettie also has ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Jettie’s beloved sister, Edie Fariss and her husband Jerry of Las Cruces as well as her nieces, Jennifer Pieper husband Loren, son Bradley and Jacqui Fariss and daughter Roxi Garcia.
Jettie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wayne Anderson, her daughter Lauda Miles Medara and husband Greg and her grandson JC Hinds.
Jettie began her working career at the “phone company” in Las Cruces. After moving to Roswell and finishing college she worked for TMC, ENMUR, and Roswell Independent School District. After retiring from RISD, she began working for the City of Roswell in the human resources department. Jettie found her niche, working in human resources. She enjoyed working and was still employed by the city right up until her passing.
A celebration of Jettie’s life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Roswell, NM. A reception will follow at the Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers please make donations in Jettie’s name to MD Anderson Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Center in Houston, TX or to the Animal Humane Association.
