Joe L Trujillo a retired carpenter and lifelong resident of Bernalillo, NM, passed away unexpectedly on December 19th, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Joe was proceeded in death by his parents Carmelita and Estevan Trujillo, his grandson Fabian Medina and sisters Pola, Maria, Juana, and Eloisa.
Joe L Trujillo was born March 19th, 1936, to Carmelita and Estevan Trujillo in the small town of Ponderosa, NM. The Trujillo’s moved to Bernalillo when Joe was just a teen. Joe was the second oldest of 10.
Joe leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 64 years Maria Rosaleah Trujillo and their 6 adult children Lucy Trujillo (Sergio), Brenda Trujillo, Laura Medina (Eliazar), Ron Trujillo (Carol), Frankie Trujillo (Francine), Sandra Trujillo (Paul). 19 Grandkids and 28 great grandkids and 1 more on the way.
Mrs. and Mr. Trujillo met in 1960. They became one on May 21st, 1960, they exchanged vowels at Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. They were each other’s lifelong companions and best friends. Together they formed a beautiful home with their 6 kids and later also raised 3 grandkids Angel, Edward and Chris in this same home. Mrs. and Mr. Trujillo began being blessed with grandkids in 1983 when their 1st and oldest grandson Tony was born. In the eyes of Joe’s family, they saw him as the strongest man whom they all loved very much!
Joe was a carpenter for many years and later retired as one. However, that did not mean he would be at home relaxing because you see he never stopped working. Joe worked up until his last day. He was well known for being such a hard worker who took a lot of pride in his work. He did many side jobs for those in Bernalillo and surrounding areas. The types of work he did were making porches, adding on to houses, cement work and yard work. Working brought a smile to Joes face, and this kept him going. He loved working!
Joes’ favorite hobbies were collecting tools and doing carpentry. (If you needed a tool chances, are he had it). He loved driving around in his trokita (Bernalillo cruiser), he enjoyed talking to his friends, taking walks, dancing and loved being with his family, his most prized possession! Another thing Mr. Trujillo enjoyed was watching and cheering on 2 of his grandsons Uriel and Ulisses and his great grandson CJ, who plays sports in Bernalillo. Joe also lived to make his wife happy. He loved spoiling her whether it was going to get her whatever she craved or buying things for their home, the home that he built from the ground on up and was proud to call it his.
Joe will always be remembered as a man with a big heart, his contagious smile, a hard-working man, who was well respected and gave respect. A man of his word and integrity. A man who if you needed a hand would be there for you but most importantly a loving husband, father and grandfather.
