Jose "Joe, Okie" Horacio Lucero, beloved husband, father son, brother, and friend, passed away on December 16, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on July 27, 1971, in Las Vegas, NM.
Joe was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1990 and went on to attend NMSU to obtain his degree in Mechanical Engineering. After completing his education, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a Quality Engineer for Sandia Labs. Joe's dedication and hard work were evident throughout his professional life.
Beyond his career, Joe enjoyed various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for playing Rugby and found joy in the camaraderie of the game. In his leisure time, he loved watching movies and spending hours exploring YouTube videos. A skilled hunter, Joe cherished the thrill of outdoor adventures. He also delighted in gathering with friends at Hooters or going out to eat with his family. Additionally, he found comfort in visiting the Hard Rock whenever he had the chance.
Joe will be remembered not only for his achievements but also for his wonderful personality. He was known for his lightheartedness and ability to bring laughter into any situation; he truly was a jokester at heart. His good-natured humor brightened the lives of those around him and created lasting memories. Furthermore, he possessed an unbeatable work ethic that inspired those who knew him.
Above all else, Jose valued the bonds of family and cherished spending time with loved ones. He leaves behind his loving wife Charlene of 22 years and their adored son Joshua. He is also survived by his father Jose H. Lucero; brother David Roy Lucero; sister Melissa Lucero and her spouse Rashelle Ullrich; and a host of God-children, nieces, and nephews. Jose's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother Linda Juliette Lucero; father-in-law Albert H. Jaramillo.
Jose Lucero touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication. He will forever remain in our hearts as a cherished friend, loving husband and father, and an inspiration to all. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
