Joseph “Joe” Duran, age 72, was born July 14th, 1947 in Espanola, New Mexico, and passed on March 8th, 2020 at the Albuquerque VA. Preceded in death by his grandmother Amada Valdez, Mother Lugardita Sisneros; sister, Amy Sisneros; and Brothers Eddie and Ray Sisneros.
Joe attended Espanola HS and then joined the Job Corps Tech School at the age of 16. He is an honorable Veteran from the US Army, where in 1967 he attended Basic Army Admin and the Pers Admin Spec Training and was actively shipped Overseas during the Vietnam War. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Joe’s hobbies were bowling, Classic Cars, attending and joining car shows and parades, reading and watching westerns, horse racing, and hanging out with family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Theresa Duran; siblings Armando and Joanne; 8 children and stepchildren: Vicky Johnson, Priscilla Espita, Elizabeth Lujan, Amy Sanchez, Joseph Duran, Ruth Casias, Valerie Marquez, & Eric Casias; 20 grandchildren: Zabian, Zack, Zenica, Victoria, Tammy, Marrissa, Kodi, Jenifer, Jehna, Jeffrey, JayJay, Jayanah, Jadelyn, Eric Jr, Dominic, Brian, Angelina, Alexis, Allyus, and Alejandra; and 8 great-grandchildren: Alejandro, Fernando, Gonzalo, Jerome, Jesus Elias, Jose Luis, Riley, and Yayinni.
The Duran Family has decided due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and leadership from CDC, State of New Mexico, and the Archdiocese of Santa Fe services for Joe will be postponed for a later date and will be announced.
