Josie A. Montoya, age 74, loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully after a short illness, Friday, October 20, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family. Josie was a lifelong resident of Bernalillo, NM, where she was an Elementary School Teacher and retired from the after 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Carmelita Chavez, Rudy Montoya; son, Steven; brothers, Fidel, Archie, James Chavez; and grandson, Danny Montoya.
Josie is survived by sons, Lawrence and wife Debbie, Joey and wife Irene, Andrew and wife Helen, and Martin Montoya; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Also Surviving are her siblings, Violet and husband Cipriano Padilla, Stella Perea, Theresa Garley, Dolores Gutierrez, Shirley and husband Eddie Dominguez, Sandy and husband Ray Mirabal, David and Irene Chavez; and other numerous relatives and friends. Josie will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.
A Rosary will be recited Friday, October 27, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth St., NW, Albuquerque, followed by the Mass at 9:00 a.m. A private Inurnment will take place at a later date.
