Laura Montoya

Laura J. Montoya, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2020.  Laura was born in Jemez Springs, NM and attended Bernalillo High School.  She later moved to Albuquerque with her husband Amadeo to raise their family.  Laura loved fishing trips with her husband, and was a talented seamstress and cook.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, caring for her flowers and dancing.  She was a wise and gentle soul who loved to sit and talk with family and friends over a hot cup of coffee.  Laura was loved immensely and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Mable Montoya; son, Larry Montoya; and granddaughters, Judy and Christine Valles.  Laura is survived by her husband Amadeo; daughters, Teresa Byrd and husband Jim, Sylvia Montoya; her grandchildren, David (Denise), Dana (Johan), Thomas (Sara), Daniel (Amalia), Matthew (Valerie), Chandler and Desiree; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  Also surviving are her sisters, Elsie Childers and Dollie Harding (Richard); brothers, AB Montoya and Orlando Montoya, Jr. and wife Kathy; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family ~ Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth St., NW, Albuquerque, NM.  A Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church, 2005 N. Plaza St., NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104; where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Casket Bearers will be Daniel Valles, Matthew Gallegos, David Gallegos, Orlando Montoya, Estevan Valles, and Richard Harding.  Honorary Bearers will be Rudy Garcia, Dan Valles Sr., Chandler Kensington, and Thomas Gallegos
