Lillie C. (Tafoya) Garcia, was called to her heavenly home by her Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the age of 92. she was a resident of Corrales, NM, formerly of Alameda, NM. Lillie was devoted to her Lord Jesus and thanked Him everyday for all her blessings. Lillie and her husband Ernest were past Mayordomos of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where she was a member and officer of the Alter and Rosary Society, as well as being a member of the Faith Communities; she help cook for all the Church Fiestas and events. She enjoyed quilting, and lovingly would make quilts for all her children and grandchildren, until she couldn't no more. Lillie was an excellent cook, especially when preparing her family's traditional favorites, biscochitos, posole, chile reanillos, and empanaditas. She had a wonderful memory and remembered all her children's, neighbors, and friends birthdays.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ernest Garcia; son, Albert James Garcia; grandsons, Joseph and Albert Garcia; her parents, Abundio and Manuelita Tafoya; brother, Benny Tafoya; and sister, Clarita Garcia. Lillie is survived by her loving children, Ernest F. Garcia (Dolores), Rudy T. Garcia (Verna), Patricia C. Martinez (Richard), and Barbara J. Baca (Dr. Mario LM); daughter-in-law, Julie Garcia; she was blessed with 15 grandchildren, Debbie Orwat, Shari Turner, Christopher Garcia, Rudy John Garcia, Angelia Yocum, Matthew Garcia, Kathleen Garcia, Bill Martinez, April Edwards, Kimberly Baca-Isaak, Mario and Marisol Baca, Caroline Vecchio, Katrina Christenson and Kassandra Hunt; 13 great-grandchildren, Sara Orwat, Thomas and Emily Turner, Bianca, Zachary, and Eric Garcia, Lilly Gallegos, Simon and Alex Isaak, Amalie Vecchio, Lucia, Daniel Hunt, and Emma Baca; one great-great-grandson, Jaxon Turner. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Julia Tafoya; prima hermana, Vicky Saiz; nieces, Esther Barela, Dolores Garcia; nephews, Paul and Lawrence Tafoya. Proverbs 31:28 Her children raise up and call her blessed.
Visitations will be Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Final Viewing will be Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Rudy John Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Bill Martinez, Christopher Garcia, Mario Baca, and Jason Isaak. Honorary Bearers will be Lawrence and Paul Tafoya, Steven Turner, and Keith Orwat.
