Magdalena C. Aragon was born on November 22, 1952. She was the daughter of Pablo Aragon and Carmelita Cordova Aragon of Cuba, NM.
Maggie passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque's South Valley on September 13, 2022.
She was raised in Cuba, New Mexico as one of twelve children. She cherished her family and their ranching outdoor lifestyle. She loved traveling and spending time with family, especially in the mountains on cattle drives with the people she loved.
Maggie was always dedicated to improving the well-being of her community. She worked with at-risk youth in Santa Fe in the 1970’s. She met her husband John on September 24, 1977, and they were married and lived in Europe until 1980. They traveled across Europe for months by train, boat and thumb until they settled down and taught English for more than a year in Barcelona. They returned to Albuquerque in 1981 and Maggie worked for Youth Development Inc. for many years. She earned a Master's Degree in Social Work in 2006 from NM Highlands University and later achieved her LISW. She always wanted to work with the ‘hardest’ cases, the ones that everyone else had given up on. She retired as a school Social Worker for Albuquerque Public Schools in 2022. She positively impacted thousands of teenagers and their families throughout her long career.
She was known for her positive energy, her smile and for making those around her laugh. Her tough can do anything attitude never faltered.
She will be missed by hundreds of beloved family members, friends, colleagues, and generations of clients. Her loss will be felt most by her husband, daughter Sheree, son in law Nicholas, grandson Archer, and baby Zeke, due in November.
A Memorial for Maggie will be held at Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St NW, Albuquerque, on Friday, September 23, 2022. Rosary @ 5pm, Public Viewing, and Eulogies at 6pm.
