Maria Elena Duran, age 89, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 11, 2016. She was a resident of Albuquerque and was a member of the North Valley Senior Center. Maria enjoyed singing at nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Some of Maria's hobbies and interests were music, dancing, and crocheting blankets for her family and friends as heirlooms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Luisa Bibiano; her husband of 40 years Richard E. Duran; sister, Jesus Reyes; brother, Antonio Bibiano; sisters-in-law, Francis Duran, Carrie Luna, Ruth Carrillo, Eva Hernandez, Jenny Castillo, and Dolores Sanchez; brothers-in-law, Max Leyba, Louie Romero, Ruben Luna, Max Sanchez,Frank Castillo and Mario Hernandez; and very sorry to say that Maria's only living brother, Santiago Bibiano passed away four days after Maria passed.
Maria is survived by her son, Richard R. Duran and wife Ana; her grandchildren who she loved so much, Ceaser Duran and wife Stacy, April Perkins and husband Klen; great-grandchildren, Addisyn and Olivia Duran, Tai and Bryce Perkins; sisters-in-law, Maria Magdalena Bibiano, Lucy Leyba, Marie S. Romero; brothers-in-law, Joe Ray, Carl and wife Munise, Rudy Duran and Ray Carrillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of wonderful and supportive friends. Maria will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.
The family wishes to express the sincere gratitude to Casa De Rosa and to all of her loving care givers for the care given to Maria. You all were angels sent by God.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary , 9420 Fourth Street NW, Albuquerque. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, Albuquerque, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Casket Bearers will be Richard Duran, Ceaser Duran, Rudy Duran, Mario Fernandez, Klen Perkins, and Jimmy Martinez.
