Maria Eduvijen Nava

Maria “Angie” Eduvijen Nava (Mares) passed away at her home on November 9, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born December 19, 1928, in Cerrillos, NM. In 1945 she married Juan Gregorio Armijo in Madrid and they later moved to Santa Fe. Forever her own woman, she later moved to Albuquerque with her daughter, Josefa, and in 1961 had her second daughter, Loretta.

A hard worker until the end of her life, Angie had careers from waitressing, bartending, to housekeeping at Anna Kaseman Hospital. As dedicated as she was to her work, she also loved playing the slot machines at the casino, laughing with family, singing and dancing. She loved going to Share Your Care Center. In 1984 she married her last love, Juan M. Nava, and they lived happily until his death in 2010.

Angie is survived by her daughters; Josefa Candelaria (Ambrosio) and Loretta Sanchez; siblings Rita Mares and Toby Coca; grandchildren Nico Candelaria, Jasinta Sanchez, and Javiar Sanchez (Cortney); 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Juan Bautista Mares and Maria Nicomedes Padilla, and granddaughter Estrella Candelaria.
