Mary Garcia

Mary M. Garcia, age 97, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016.   Mary grew up in La Jara, NM, and was a resident of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque since 1958.  Mary will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren whom she always blessed, before leaving her home with a cross on their forehead and a kiss.  She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends; her hobbies were traveling, watching game shows, novellas and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Garcia; her parents, Andres and Merenciana Maestas; and some beloved brothers and sisters.  Mary is survived by her loving children, Val Garcia (Becky), Carmen Garcia, and Steve Garcia (Cathy); her grandchildren, Andres Garcia (Tanya), Christa Lopez (Art), Adele Roybal (Noah); her great-grandchildren, her little joys of her life, Antonio Lopez, Mateo Lopez, Gabriel Garcia, Andreana Garcia, Felix Garcia, Isaiah Roybal and Heleena Roybal.  Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Rosalie Garcia; her loving siblings, Lucinda Chavez, Dolores Lovato, Susie Segura, Alex Maestas (Texann), and Bennie Maestas (Reina); brother-in-law, Danny Garcia (Rita); sister-in-laws, Pita Garcia and Carolina Maestas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Mary will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be this evening (Wednesday) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, in Albuquerque, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Final Viewing will be Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary.  Service of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Casket Bearers will be Liz Rue, Andres Garcia, Noah Roybal, Art Lopez, Antonio Lopez, and Xavier Lovato.  Honorary Bearers will be Liliana Miner, Heleena Roybal, Gabriel Garcia, and Mateo Lopez.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Mary's loving caretakers, Liliana Miner, Jesse Sosa, and Jackie Lovato.  Mary had a special place in her heart for all her caretakers.
