Mildred C. Romero passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92 on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Mildred had wonderful memories of the time she spent working at Los Alamos and Sandia Base. She worked for 27 years then retired when she married Alfonso Romero, who was a rancher in Antonito, CO. They lived there until they retired from ranching in 2007 and moved to Espanola, NM. After living in Espanola for three years they moved to Albuquerque. Mildred was an amazing woman who touched many live with her kindness. She loved visiting with family and friends, where she told wonderful stories of her life experiences. She will be greatly missed by all her relatives and friends around the country.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso J. Romero; her parents, Chris and Agnes Cordova; brothers, John, Mike, Joe, Phil, and Chris Cordova; and sister, Marie Herrera.
Visitations will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 126 S. McCurdy, Espanola, NM 87532, where a Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. then the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Delfino Romero, James Romero, Tommy Maestas, Sixto Maestas, Jr., Rubel Martinez, and Joseph Romero.
