Socorro Barriga

Socorro Montez Barriga, age 85, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019.  She was born to Lorenza and Jorge Martinez on July 21, 1933 in Vado De Piedra, Chihuahua, Mexico.  She was married 54 years to Francisco Barriga. Socorro loved listening to Spanish Music and dancing.   She loved bright colors and wore bright, shiny clothes, with lots of accessories and sequins.   She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for everyone.

Socorro was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Barriga; parents, Lorenza Martinez and Jorge Montez; children, Francisco M. Barriga (Chico), Jose M. Barriga (Cache), Georgina Barriga; grandchildren, Jose Daniel Barriga and Blanca Rosa Barriga.

Socorro is survived by her children, Socorro Sotelo (Roberto), Ezequiel Barriga (Alicia), Eliseo Barriga (Mary), Mario Barriga (Darlene), Ninfa Arenivas, Mando Barriga, Lorina Barriga,   Oscar Barriga, Ivan Barriga; siblings, Francisco Montez (Frank) and Alicia Montes Dones; 34 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Lee Barriga, Joe Frank Barriga, Felix Lopez, Luis I. Caldera, Edward Corrales and Noe Corrales.  Honorary Pallbearers are Francisco Rivera, Raymond Sanchez, Jacob Armendoriz and Brison Barriga.

A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 17, 2019, Alameda Chapel, 9420 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Bernalillo, NM.  Interment will follow at 1:30 pm in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
